The Claddagh ring is thought to have been designed by Richard Joyce, a Galway native captured by pirates while being transported as a slave to the West Indian plantations and sold to a Moorish goldsmith. In 1689, he was freed and allowed to return to his home in Galway. He set up a small shop in the town of Claddagh and crafted this now famous and unique ring. We offer this special version in rich emerald green. "Let Love and Friendship Reign" whenever you wear this beautiful piece
